Horse Affairs, Inc.
would like to thank all our wonderful volunteers
who helped make Horse Affairs 2006 another great show!
We couldn't have done it without the dedicated service of these great volunteers!
Thank you so much!

Volunteer Opportunities
  • Help with typing, mailers or other miscellaneous up front tasks
  • Distribute flyers and/or posters
  • Distribute yard signs a week before the show and pickup Sunday or Monday after the show.
  • Volunteer during at the show
Ahead-Of-The-Show Help
Help with mailers to vendors, day cares, schools and senior citizens homes. Other before-the-show help is also needed. Please contact info@horseaffairs.com for ideas and schedules of volunteer opportunities ahead of the show.

Distribute Flyers
Let us know if you would like some flyers for your club, association, barn/stable, business or whatever. We'll get them out to you as soon as possible.
Thank you in advance for your help in distributing flyers to interested horse people!

Yard Sign Distribution
Sunday and Monday, before the show, its time to place the yard signs telling folks we are coming the following weekend to the Fairgrounds, if you have room in your yard or have a business we would appreciate you placing a yard sign.

We also need volunteers to take a bunch of those yard signs to place at businesses that allow the placement or on public streets, this is not limited to Boise but all surrounding Counties.

These signs need to be picked up right after the event. Fuel cost for this will be reimbursed if more than 50 signs are being placed.

Volunteers
If you want to lighten up the “dark” days of winter, have some fun and learn some new things, come join the staff of Horse Affairs as a volunteer! Not only will you meet some great horse people who share your interest you will gain insight and experience as how an event like Horse Affairs actually runs. Horse Affairs has continued to grow over the years and the size and complexity of the show has made our staff more dependent than ever on our volunteers. Our volunteers insure the successful production of the show and handle so many of the details of the production. Volunteering for a horse event can be great fun because you will be involved in the behind-the-scenes production and you are part of a team effort!

Horse Affairs is centered mainly around horses and as always, there will be a lot of horses present during the three days of the event. However, you as a volunteer will be working with the horse people rather than horses!

Many jobs need to be covered by volunteer staff and nearly all jobs relate to the production of the event and include:
  • Assisting in the set up and tear down of the show
  • Checking tickets for attendees as they enter the show
  • "Guarding" doors to prevent unauthorized entry into the buildings
  • Assisting in the Information Booth, Barn and Show Offices.
  • Helping with the production of the Evening Program “Night of the Horse”.
While these jobs may not be glamorous they are so necessary to the production of Horse Affairs. The following is a brief outline of what is expected from our volunteers and what they will receive in turn:
  1. The coordinator for our volunteer program will be Connie Gilbert.
  2. Each day of the Horse Affairs show (including set up and tear down days) is divided into several two-hour work shifts. It will be necessary for you to work two shifts (four hours) to earn one day's admission to Horse Affairs. You may work more than two shifts in one day and credit those shifts towards a three-day show pass.
  3. It is necessary to commit and work ten or more hours to earn a three-day show pass. As a special "thank you" we give to each volunteer who works six hours or more an official Horse Affairs T-Shirt.
  4. Volunteers will be responsible for their own meals, accommodations and any travel expenses.
  5. Some beverages and snacks will be available in the Volunteer Office for all day workers during show hours.
  6. Because of the nature of much of the work that volunteers are asked to do, we cannot accept volunteers for most staff positions who are under 19 years of age. However they can work under the supervision of an adult volunteer.
  7. We make every effort to schedule volunteers so that they do not work during the times that they want to attend certain clinics or seminars, but there are no guarantees. We will try to accommodate all scheduling preferences.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Horse Affairs.
